NEW DELHI: The TV serials, both at the national and state levels, showing all sorts of crimes, malafides and frauds has created a terrible impact on teenage boys and girls and the Centre should take measures to control it, Congress MP P Bhattacharya said in Rajya Sabha.

Raising the matter during Zero Hour, Bhattacharya said that the episodes and serials being shown on TV nowadays has created a lot of problems in our society.

“All sorts of crimes, malafides and frauds; and, how all these things have to be done is being shown in TV serials. It has been seen from crime reports that crime in our country has increased. One of the reasons they have given is that it is due to TV serials shown,” he said.

Calling for imposition of some sort of social control, the Congress MP demanded that “we shall have to see that a law must be enacted about this matter so that they can control TV serials and they must have to see that all these things like criminal activities can be stopped immediately.”

“Otherwise it would be very difficult to maintain harmony in our society. These TV serials and what is shown in different electronic media, all the times, have to collect their advertisement, etc. They are injecting some sort of nastiest possible scenarios in TV serials, which is really very unfortunate for the people to observe in the society,” he added.
