MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government may soon adopt a five-day working week structure. The Finance Minister informed the Legislative Council on Thursday that the government is positively considering the issue.

A committee had been appointed to ponder over the various aspects of the new structure. The committee is expected to submit its recommendations soon, after which the government will take appropriate decision, the minister told the House.

The State government gives 135 leaves out of 365 days a year. The committee is studying possible effects of the decision to adopt five-day working week model on productivity of employees. The government is positive about the issue, but the decision would be taken only after due consideration of all aspects, the minister said.
