Bhopal: The gruesome triple murder of three persons in a village on Monday night sent shock waves across Katni district in Madhya Pradesh.

While a woman and her neighbour were hacked to death, the aged security guard at a marble factory was beheaded and the severed head taken away by the accused.  All the three murders were possibly killed by one man within half an hour in Chapra village of Slimbabad area (350 km from Bhopal).

The mystery killer first hacked to death a 70-year-old man Jagdish Singh, who was sleeping outside the house in the open.  The killer then murdered Singh's neighbour, 69-year-old woman Puniya Bai Barman, who too was sleeping outside the house in the open.

The last of the triple murders took place in the same village, but around 500 meters from the houses outside which the two murders took place. The unidentified accused spotted the 65-year-old security guard Jalim Singh on duty outside the Dolphin Marble factory and beheaded him.

"The accused not only beheaded the security guard, but also took away the severed head, which suggests that either the killer is psychic or has committed the three gruesome murders for performing some tantrik ritual,” said SP of Katni district, Shashikant Shukla.

Police said that Jagdish Singh’s son had seen the murderer while he was fleeing after killing his father and neighbour Puniya Bai. The murdered man's son even chased the alleged killer for a short distance, but the latter managed to escape after killing the marble factory security guard also.
