BILASPUR: A private college principal has been booked for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, the police said today.

Deepak Chakrawarty, principal of CMD College here, was booked last night on charge of rape based on the statement given by the woman, Additional Superintendent of Police (women cell) Megha Tembhurkar said.

However, the accused is yet to be arrested, she added.

The woman, a resident of Sarkanda area, works with a network marketing business, with which Chakrawarty is also associated, she said.

As per the complaint, the accused called the woman to his house-cum-office in August and allegedly raped her after offering her a sedative-laced soft drink, the ASP said, adding Chakrawarty also filmed the act.

The accused allegedly threatened to make the video public and raped the woman again in September, the officer added.

Last evening, the victim's statement was recorded and the accused was booked under sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation), she said, adding that further investigation is on.
