NEW DELHI: The BJP on Wednesday said that the party will contest the high-profile Gurdaspur Lok Sabha bypoll on brand Modi and the achievements of the Central government.

The party said that the failure of the Captain Amarinder Singh in Punjab would be showcased in the bypoll.

Speaking to reporters in the national capital, the Rajya Sabha MP of the BJP from Punjab Shwet Malik said that the Modi government’s achievements in the form of last year’s surgical strike against terror camps in the Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), India’s firm stand on the Doklam standoff with China, tackling terrorism in the Kashmir valley would be the key campaign grounds for the party in the polls.

The BJP has fielded businessman Swaran Salaria from the Gurdaspur constituency, which is going to a bypoll following the demise of the sitting MP Vinod Khanna, who had represented the area for four terms in the Lok Sabha.
