Three Indian nationals abducted off Nigerian coat released: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj

Sushil Kumar, Pankaj Kumar and Ajay Kumar were abducted last month after their ship was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Nigeria.

NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today said the three Indian nationals, who were abducted off the Nigerian coast by pirates, have been released.

Sushil Kumar, Pankaj Kumar and Ajay Kumar were abducted last month after their ship was hijacked by pirates off the coast of Nigeria.

All three hail from Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh.

"We have secured the release of three Indian nationals Sushil Kumar, Pankaj Kumar and Ajay Kumar - all from Himachal Pradesh who were abducted in Nigeria. I appreciate the efforts of Shri B.N.Reddy Indian High Commissioner in Nigeria. @jairamthakurbjp," Swaraj tweeted.

Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said in Shimla that all the three men were safe and would reach the country in three to four days.

He also expressed his gratitude to Swaraj and the central government for the release of the Kangra natives.
