LUCKNOW: Congress members today staged a protest over the PNB scam and burnt the effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The district unit of the Congress led by their president Gaurav Chaudhary took out a march from the UPCC office to the state Assembly.
However, they were stopped by police personnel deployed there, party spokesman Dipendra Misra said.
Party workers, who raised slogans against the central government over the scam, later burnt the effigy of the prime minister to mark their protest, he said.
"Scams are taking place and scamsters are easily fleeing the country under a prime minister who calls himself the 'chowkidar' of the people. This is the biggest failure of the government," Chaudhary said.
This government is neck deep in corruption, he alleged.
