KOLKATA: Several of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s poems have mention of his tutor Annapurna Turkhud, whom he fondly called ‘Nalini’ and from which the movie draws its name.

Chatterjee had earlier claimed that Annapurna, and not Kadambari Devi, was Tagore’s first love and she proposed marriage with Tagore, which his father Debendranath Tagore refused due to his son’s young age and the woman being elder to his son.Chatterjee said Annapurna translated several of Tagore’s poems to English and they were then translated to Marathi by her elder sister.

The shooting of the movie was supposed to begin in October last year, but it was delayed for want of approval. The Priyanka Chopra movie would be shot at Santiniketan, Ahmedabad, Solapur, Kolhapur and Mumbai.
