THANE: Tired of his "physical torture", family members of a 24-year-old man from Vasai allegedly got him killed by hiring contract killers, police said today, adding that four accused have been arrested.

Palghar district rural police arrested the accused last Friday after the body of the victim Rohit Chowdhary was found floating in a quarry at Bhoidapada on June 27, a police official said today.

The accused have been identified as Lalchand Chowdhary (45), Sunita Chowdhary (44), Anoop alias Ravi Chowdhary (25) and Shruti 19, the police said.

They have been booked under sections 302 (Punishment for murder) and 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the IPC, the official said, adding that police are looking for four persons who executed the murder.

An official said that family members of Chaudhary were fed up with his behaviour as he used to abuse and torture them.

He said the family members hired contract killers from Uttar Pradesh to kill Chaudhary.
