SRINAGAR: A pilgrim from Punjab died due to brain hemorrhage at Baltal, base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas, official sources said.
They said a pilgrim identified as Gurman Singh, son of Gurtal Singh, resident of Punjab suffered a massive brain hemorrhage at Baltal base camp in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal early Monday morning.
However, he was immediately rushed to medical camp where he was declared dead.
With this a total of 14 pilgrims have died due to health reasons and accidents during the first 12 days of 60-day-long Amarnath Yatra which commenced from June 28 from both shortest Baltal and traditional Pahalgam tracks.
The annual pilgrimage was intermittently affected due to landslides and slippery road conditions following rain.
