"Mukherjee was very inquisitive and asked several questions to understand the nitty gritties of the training of RSS cadres as well as the regular work carried out by Sangha Swayamsevaks," said Anil in charge of media relations at the RSS media body Vishwa Samvad Kendra at Nagpur.

After his interaction with RSS officials, Mukherjee went to the Smriti Mandir - memorials of Dr Hedgewar and M S Golwalkar the first two chiefs of RSS - to pay his respects.

"This is nothing new or special for us. Every year some or the other prominent personality is invited as chief guest for the valedictory function of the SSV. The program for all of them is almost the same. This year there is more media attention, which is the only distinctly different thing from every year," said Dr Manmohan Vaidya, Saha Sar Karyavah (Joint General Secretary) of the RSS.
