The former MP was released on bail later.

PATNA: Senior BJP leader and former MP Dr Dileep Kumar Jaiswal today surrendered before special court constituted to hear criminals cases pending against MPs and MLAs in a case of model code of violation.

The former MP was released on bail later.

Mr Jaiswal prayed for release on regular bail after surrendering before the court of special judge Parshuram Singh Yadav.

After hearing arguments on bail petition, the court ordered for release of Mr Jaiswal on furnishing of personal bond of Rs 10,000 and two sureties of equal amount.

According to the prosecution, a flying squad had seized nearly Rs one lakh from a BJP`s campaign vehicle after the end of campaigning in Kishangnaj constituency during 2014 Lok Sabha election.

The occupants of vehicle had failed to give any satisfactory reply to authorities.

An FIR was lodged against Dr Jaiswal and three others in this connection.

The special court had issued non-bailable arrest warrant against Mr Jaiswal on May 10, 2018 by cancelling his bail after he did not appear before the court despite several summons.
