Kotkhai rape-murder case: Lone accused refuses to plead guilty in court

CBI which took over the case on July 23 last year claimed that Gudiya was tortured to death after the rape case and there are sufficient material including DNA report and Forensic evidence.

SHIMLA: Gudiya rape and murder case lone accused on Friday pleaded not guilty for the heinous crime and demanded to face trial as the court read the charge sheet here.

Anil Kumar alias Nilu was produced in person before the Special and Session Judge Shimla Verinder Singh on Friday, soon after court handed over and read a copy of charge sheet filed by Speical Investigation Unit of CBI in the heinous Gudiya rape and Murder case, the accused said that he did not guilty of the crime and is innocent and would like to face trial in the case.

After this the court deferred the hearing in the matter till Jun 23 to hear the wittiness in the case.

The CBI has presented a list of 62 witnesses in the court who would record their statement form next date of hearing regularly.

During the hearing no lawyer appeared in the case representing the accused and court provided a government counsel in favour of accused also remained absent.

It is worthwhile to mention that after 210 days of long hide and seek, CBI nabbed the accused on April 13 this year and CBI moved charge sheet in the court on May 29.

CBI which took over the case on July 23 last year claimed that Gudiya was tortured to death after the rape case and there are sufficient material including DNA report and Forensic evidences against the accused.

CBI claimed that it succeed to crack a open and shut case by the state police after succeeding to get DNA samples of accused which confirmed and matched with the forensic material.

Ten standard minor was brutally murder after the rape as her body was recovered from a Jungle on July six.

She was kidnapped by the accused before the crime on July 4 when she was returning home from the school.

Post-mortem report of victim confirmed that she was murder after the rape however the state police had arrested the six suspects in the matter.

With death of one suspect identified as Suraj, High court decided to hand over the case to CBI.

CBI after the probe not only found the six suspect arrested by state police innocent but booked the three member of SIT including former IG law and order ZH Zaidi, Ex SP Shimla DW Negi and DSP Manoj Joshi and six other police official involved in murder of suspect who were also charge sheeted by the CBI in separate case.
