Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday clarified that President Ram Nath Kovind has given approval for imposition of governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir with immediate effect.
The Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir was imminent after the three-year-old state government collapsed today with the BJP pulling out of its alliance with the PDP.
The Union Home Ministry has received a report from Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and necessary action is being taken on it, according to a ministry spokesperson.
Vohra forwarded his report to President Ram Nath Kovind for the imposition of Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir after the BJP pulled out of the coalition government and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tendered her resignation, a Raj Bhawan spokesperson said in Srinagar.
Former chief minister and opposition National Conference (NC) vice-president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday ruled out extending support to any political party for formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir.
