BHOPAL:A day after the five-day monsoon session of Madhya Pradesh Assembly was adjourned sine die abruptly on the second day only, the Opposition Congress on Wednesday started a three-day parallel session of sorts within the Assembly premises in Bhopal to expose the “state of governance and rampant corruption in the BJP-ruled state".
Dubbed as ‘Janta Darbar’, the three-hour ‘session’ on the first day saw 50-odd Congress legislators led by Ajay Singh, Leader of Opposition in the House, gather in the Assembly premises wearing black bands on the arms as a mark of protest against the premature end to the monsoon session.
The legislators targeted Speaker Sitasaran Sharma for adjourning the House on Tuesday. Singh announced that the Congress would go to the public and expose the government by discussing the issues mentioned in the ‘no trust’ motion which the Speaker did not allow to be debated in Assembly. The MLAs would brief the public about the reasons which forced the government to run away from debate, he added.
The lawmakers spoke on various problems plaguing the state. Ichhawar-Sehore MLA Shailendra Patel raised the issue of farmers' plight. Suwasra (Mandsaur) MLA Hardeep Singh Dang alleged that the judicial probe report on the death of Mandsaur farmers in police firing in 2016 was not tabled in the House to save the “real culprits”.
