Eight dead in two road mishaps in Bengal

KOLKATA: Eight people died in two different road accidents in West Bengal on Wednesday.

Six people including Panchayat Samiti members died and three others were injured in a head-on collision when a Kolkata-bound bus allegedly overtook a sand-laden lorry and collided with an incoming tourist vehicle on National Highway 116 B in Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal on Wednesday. Kandi Panchayat Samiti members Haider Ali, Abdul Haji Kalam and Debsagar Dey are among the six dead. The three injured are being treated at Kanthi hospital and are out of danger.

In another accident, two youth Ubaid Hussain and Firoze Khan were killed after the scooter they were travelling in skid below AJC Bose Road Flyover in Kolkata. The helmetless duo fell on the road and died on the spot after their heads hit the road on Wednesday.
