JARKHAND: One more person has been arrested for allegedly tonsuring six people in Jharkhand's Simdega district over charges of beef consumption, police said on Monday.

A total of five people have been arrested so far in connection with the incident that took place in Bhedikudar village in Sadar police station area on September 16 and a manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining four accused, Sub-divisional Police Officer Rajkishore said.

The officer, however, dismissed media reports that the victims were forced to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. As per the police complaint lodged by a woman victim, the accused persons had come to her house on September 16 and beaten up her husband and groped her.

When their neighbours protested, the accused persons alleged all of them had consumed beef and tonsured them before parading them in the village, the complaint said.
