HARIDWAR:  Taking stock of the ground situation ahead of the Assembly polls next year, BJP national president J P Nadda on Friday told Uttarakhand unit functionaries to spend more time at the booth level to interact with voters and spread the word on the government’s achievements. In back-to-back four meetings, Nadda met BJP chiefs of all 13 districts to assess party’s preparedness.

“He asked the district presidents to interact with people at the booth level in their districts. MLAs and MPs have been tasked with delivering on welfare schemes, while ministers have been advised to work among the people and spread details of the work the government has done since 2017 among them,” said a party source.

Nadda, who is on two-day visit to Uttarakhand, chair a meeting with the state’s core group, meet seers and attend a programme to felicitate ex-servicemen.  He would meet former members of the Indian Armed Forces and the elected representatives of rural and urban bodies on Saturday.

Earlier in the day, he was received at the Jolly Grant Airport by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and state BJP president Madan Kaushik. “We apprised him of our work. At the peak of the pandemic, when other political leaders were hiding, it was BJP that was serving the people,” said Kaushik.
