CHANDIGARH:  A day after pro-Khalistani activist Amritpal Singh’s wife Kirandeep Kaur was stopped at Amritsar International Airport from boarding a flight to London, Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh on Friday came in support of Kaur.

In a video statement issued here, Singh said that stopping Kaur at the airport was not right from any angle as she was headed to her parental home. “Earlier, police had visited Kaur’s house several times and had questioned her and her family. Moreover, she is a British national. She did not commit any crime and if the government wants to ask or enquire anything from her, they should respectfully visit her residence,” he said.

Kaur was stopped on Thursday from boarding a flight to London at the Sri Guru Ram Dass International Airport at Amritsar and was asked to return to her village after three hours of questioning by the immigration authorities and Punjab police.
