BERHAMPUR:Tension flared up at a private boarding school here on Wednesday after some parents sought action against the hostel superintendent who allegedly beat a student with a PVC pipe as punishment.
Bijita Patra, mother of the punished Class VII student, along with her relatives and other parents went to the school and demanded stringent action against the superintendent P Tripathy.
According to the complaint lodged by Patra with Gasaninuagaon police, Tripathy beat up the 12-year-old boy with a PVC pipe without any reason on July 30. The superintendent hit the boy so hard that he was unable to walk. The school authorities also did not pay attention to the condition of the boy, the complaint stated.
Meanwhile, police reached the spot and assured the aggrieved parents of action against the school authorities if found guilty.school chairman B Mohapatra refuted the allegation and said this was an effort to defame the institution. He further informed that out of humiliation, Tripathy has submitted his resignation.
