Itanagar, Oct 14 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh ChiefMinister Pema Khandu today said the state government willevaluate the existing industrial policy to make it moreinvestor-friendly and boost growth.
The chief minister was responding to a private-memberresolution brought by BJP MLA Gabriel Denwang Wangsu in thestate Assembly.
"We will revisit the state industrial policy andinvite all the elected representatives to forward suggestionsso that a comprehensive policy could be formulated which willbe investor-friendly," Khandu said.
Wangsu, in his resolution, urged the government totake steps to facilitate establishment of industrial estatesin foothill areas of the state.
Khandu said a provision of Rs 15 crore was made in the2017-18 State Budget for setting up of industrial units in thefoothill areas, and the proposal is pending with the Committeeof Secretaries.
The chief minister said setting up of industrialestates in the foothill areas would encourage micro, small andmedium industries and minimise unemployment.
The state government has also sent a proposal to theNITI Aayog for organising a seminar on 'Act East Policy'during January or February next year, he said.
"If the Act East Policy is implemented withimprovement of communication network, the economy of ArunachalPradesh which shares border with China, Bhutan and Tibet willchange drastically. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is takingkeen interest in this direction," Khandu said. PTI UPLRBT.
