Jabalpur (MP), Oct 14 (PTI) Union Minister of State forDefence Subhash Bhamre today said there was no shortage ofammunition for the armed forces.
"Such a situation was there in 2013, but not now," hesaid, responding to a question about reports on shortage ofammunition.
Addressing a press conference here, Bhamre said India hasbeen the biggest importer of defence equipment in the world,but efforts were underway to make the country self-reliant.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the country tobecome self-reliant in defence production through 'Make inIndia' campaign," he said.
Indigenous weapon systems were also being developed, theminister said.
"We are putting stress on transfer of technology fromforeign countries through joint production to turn the countryself-reliant in defence production," he added. PTI LAL MAS KRKKIS.
