Jammu, Oct 14 (PTI) A junior engineer in PowerDevelopment Department (PDD) was arrested after he wasallegedly caught accepting bribe at Bari Brahmna area in Sambadistrict of Jammu and Kashmir, a spokesman of the SVO said.

Ved Prakash had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000from a person for providing electricity connection to his uniteven as he had completed all the required formalities lastyear, the spokesman of State Vigilance Organisation said.

"A case was registered on the written complaint ofKuldeep Chand of Bishnah and a successful trap was laidwherein the accused was caught while demanding and acceptingthe bribe of Rs 5,000," he said.

The spokesman said Chand approached the SVO stating thatlast year he had applied before two-three departments forobtaining of licence for flour grinding machine and was toldto deposit the security amount with the PDD department forproviding of electricity connection.

He deposited the security money and also obtained areceipt in this regard from the department, he said. PTI TASABAQS.
