Manila, Oct 14 (AP) A Philippine plane carrying more than180 passengers and crew veered off the runway after landing ina central province, prompting the pilot to order an evacuationof the aircraft, officials said today.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said allthe passengers and crew of Cebu Pacific airline's Airbus 320aircraft were safe following last night's incident, whichcaused the plane's front landing gear to get stuck in a grassyarea at the end of the runway at Iloilo province'sinternational airport.
More than 40 domestic and regional flights have beencancelled and airport crews were working to remove the stalledaircraft, which was partly blocking the runway, to allowflights to resume tonight.
Cebu Pacific, a leading Philippine carrier known for itsbudget flights, said it was working with authorities toinvestigate the incident and hasten the airport's reopening.
