Patna, Oct 14 (PTI) RJD president Lalu Prasad today saidPrime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumarwere fooling the people of Bihar by not according centralstatus to the Patna University (PU).
Modi, who earlier in the day attended the centenarycelebrations of the varsity here along with Kumar, saidmeasures like grant of central status were a thing of thepast.
The prime minister said his government has taken "astep forward" towards making 10 private universities and 10government ones world-class.
"Both of them (Modi as well as Kumar) are making foolsof people of Bihar. They must have decided beforehand that onewill propose and another would dispose it (proposal forcentral status to PU)," Prasad told reporters at Patna's JayPrakash Narayan Airport on his arrival from New Delhi.
Prasad had served as president of PU students' union thatprovided vital support to the anti-Congress Jay PrakashNarayan movement in 1974.
The RJD chief has been on the offensive after thedisintegration of the grand alliance government in Bihar inwhich his son Tejaswi Yadav was deputy chief minister.
During the fucntion, Modi said the Centre will provideassistance of Rs 10,000 crore to 10 private universities andas many government ones for a period of five years.
"I exhort Patna University to seize this opportunity,"he added.
Prasad, taking a swipe at Modi, said, "Will he (PM) beon the chair till that time?"Asked why he did not attend today's function at PU, Lalusaid he did not get an invitation. "Even if I had got aninvitation, I would not have gone to share dais with PM."The RJD chief also questioned BJP president Amit Shahfor giving a "clean chit" to his son Jay Amit Shah, whosecompany saw a huge rise in turnover after the BJP came topower in 2014, as claimed in a report by The Wire.
"Are you (Amit Shah) heading ED or CBI that you aregiving clean chit to your son Jay Shah?" he said.
"While me and my family members are being called everynow and then by ED, CBI or Income Tax, same is not done withAmit Shah's son," Prasad added. PTI SNS RBTBSA.
