Los Angeles, Oct 14 (PTI) Veteran actor Whoopi Goldbergis set to star in the benefit concert performance of "DamnYankees".
Goldberg will play the fictional devil in the show pennedby George Abbott, Douglass Wallop, Richard Adler, and JerryRoss, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Actor Maggie Gyllenhaal will play Lola and James EarlJones will play baseball team owner Mr Welch oppositeGoldberg's Applegate in the special reading of the Tony-winning 1955 musical, which follows a frustrated baseball fanwho sells his soul to the devil in order to help his favouriteteam win.
The show is a beloved classic musical and was lastrevived on Broadway in 1994 with Victor Garber and BebeNeuwirth.
