(Eds: Repeating after minor changes in para 2)Ranchi, Nov 3 (PTI) The Jharkhand government has givenits approval for production of 20 films in the picturesquestate which was blessed with an abundance of natural beauty.

The approval was given on the recommendation of membersof the technical committee of the Jharkhand Film DevelopmentCorporation (JFDC), an official release said yesterday.

Of the 20 films approved for production in the state, itincludes four Santhali films, three films each in Nagpuri,Bhojpuri and Bengali, Khorta one and six Hindi films, it said.

Majority of the shooting of these films would take placeat various locations in the state.

'Begam Jaan', 'A death in the Gunj', 'Ranchi Diary' and'Ajab Singh ki Gajab Kahani', which were filmed at variouslocations in Jharkhand, have been released since the formationof the JFDCin 2016, the release said.

At present, six films produced in the state were on thefloor. Santali Film 'Rofa' was ready for release.

The JFDC would be granting a sum of Rs one to two croresto films produced in Jharkhand.

On the directive of Jharkhand Chief Minister RaghubarDas, a Jharkhand Film Policy was framed by the Information andPublic Relation Department under the guidance of his PrincipalSecretary Sanjay Kumar in 2015.

The objective was to develop Jharkhand as a favorablefilm making destination as well as to attract maximum touriststhrough publicity of its natural beauty, tourists spots,culture, folk dances etc,Apart from providing a proper platform for artistes andfilm producers, the aim was to attract investment through filmindustry and generate employment opportunities, the releaseadded.
