NEW DELHI: Top seed Saina Nehwal crashed out of the Asian Badminton Championship after losing her semifinal match against Chinese qualifier Xuerui Li in the semifinal here today.

The world number six Indian lost 21-17 21-11 against Xuerui in a 31-minute match, ending India's campaign in the prestigious event at the Siri Fort complex here.

The first game was a roller-coaster ride for the Indian as she moved neck and neck with the Chinese from 8-8 to 16-16 before losing her way as Xuerui sealed the game.

In the second game, Saina couldn't match up to the fast paced game of the Chinese and her defense crumbled. From 3-3 the Chinese took a giant leap to reach 8-3 before widening the gap to 12-4. Although Saina grabbed five straight points after that, it was a case of too little too late in the end.
