CHENNAI: Velammal’s 25th TN State U-13 Open and Girls Chess C’ship for the Dolphin trophies will take place from May 8 to 14 at Velammal Vi­dy­alaya & Velammal Matriculation School, Velammal Ave­nue, Madurai-Bangalore NH-7, Kakkavadi, Karur.

The total prize fund is `22,000. Every affiliated me­mber of the TN State Chess Association can field two entr­ies in each category and every recognized academy of Tamil Nadu State Chess Association can field one entry in each ca­tegory.

SDAT Coaching Camps

Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu will conduct summer coaching camps for a period of 15 days in two spells in selected sports disciplines (athletics, volleyball, cricket, badminton, basketball, boxing, tennis, hockey, handball, fencing, judo) at various centres from April 30.

The camps will be held in two sessions (morning and evening) for boys and girls (above 5 years for gymnastics and taekwondo) above seven years for other sports. Classes will be conducted by NIS-trained coaches.
