Lake Placid to host bobsled World Cup opener

Lake Placid will host the start of next season's World Cup bobsled and skeleton schedule.

The International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation says the 2012-13 World Cup season will open at Mount Van Hoevenberg from Nov. 8-10, with the tours moving on to the 2002 Olympic track in Park City, Utah from Nov. 16-18. The 2010 Olympic track in Whistler, British Columbia will host the third stop on the circuit, Nov. 23-25.

Other stops include Winterberg, Germany (Dec. 7-9), La Plagne, France (Dec. 14-16), Altenberg, Germany (Jan. 4-6), Konigssee, Germany (Jan. 11-13) and Igls, Austria (Jan. 18-20).

The world championships are in St. Moritz, Switzerland from Jan. 21-Feb. 3. The season concludes with a test event at the 2014 Olympic track 40 miles outside Sochi, Russia from Feb. 11-17.
