Super GM Sergei Tiviakov of The Netherlands (with a rating of 2659) will be the top seed at the Apollo Engineering College Commonwealth Chess Championships, organised by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association (TNSCA) at the Multipurpose Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium from November 22 to December 1. About 435 players from 16 countries namely Australia, Bangladesh, Botswana, Canada, Egypt, India, Malaysia, Maldives, The Netherlands, Philippines, Republic of South Africa, Singapore, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Zambia, will be seen in action. The list includes 17 GMs, 28 IMs and 6 WGMs. Total prize money for the event is `10 lakh. Prof R Anantharam, India’s leading technical official, will be the chief arbiter.
