Rubesh hits scintillating 77 as Nellai Nadar beat Sri Sivaswami Kalalaya

Riding V Rubesh’s 77, Nellai Nadar beat Sri Sivaswami Kalalaya by 68 runs in the TNCA U16 cricket tournament for C Ramaswamy Trophy.

Batting first, Nellai Nadar compiled a challenging total of 197 for seven in 30 overs. Rubesh got ample support from S Siva Balan (44) and H Mohammad Saifullah (29).

In reply, Sivaswami Kalalaya were restricted to 129 for 8 in 30 overs. S Mano Balaji took four wickets for only 23 runs.

S Suryakanth’s century (103 retd, 142b, 13x4) helped City gain a 38-run lead over City II in a TNCA Round Robin Under-14 match.

Though the match ended in a draw, City I won by virtue of the 1st innings lead.

T20 Cricket

Twenty six teams from various schools in the city will take part in the St John’s Public School (SJPS) T20 under-14 cricket tournament to be held in various grounds in the city from Thursday.

The tournament will be played on a knockout basis, and Rs 1 lakh is the total prize money.
