Squash: Kush, Sachika get top billing

The fifth Indian Junior Open Squash Championship commences Tuesday at the Indian Squash Academy here with 419 players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, Nepal, Canada and India in the fray.

The fifth Indian Junior Open Squash Championship commences Tuesday at the Indian Squash Academy here with 419 players from Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the US, Nepal, Canada and India in the fray.

The tournament is sanctioned by the Asian Squash Federation as a Gold event and it is also part of the World Junior Circuit.

Kush Kumar, winner at the second Asian Youth Games has been given top billing in the boys under-19 category. Kush, a trainee at the Indian Squash Academy here will be looking at a hat-trick at this event.

Sachika Ingale from Delhi is seeded to meet Urwashi Joshi from Mumbai in the girls under-19 final.

The other star attraction of this event is current boys under-13 Asian Junior Champion Mohd Hafiz Zhafri from Malaysia.
