Gopi stars in Verizon’s victory Vs Samsung

Gopi’s 4 for 13 helped Verizon beat Samsung by six wickets in the Chennai Super Kings Super Cup Multi-Sport Corporate cricket tournament.

Balu bags crown

Top seed Hari Balu of Cognizant became the champion of the CSK Super Cup chess tournment by beating Suresh Agarwal of HP in the last crucial round. He scored 6 points and was placed 1st. Arumugaraj A of Cognizant scored 5 points and was placed 2nd, followed by Suresh Agarwal (HP) and Jegan K (Cognizant) for the 3rd and 4th spot. The event saw 76 players from 30 corporate houses vie for top honours. GM MR Venkatesh distributed the prizes.

Vivek, Vignesh enter main draw

Vivek Shokeen and P Vignesh were the only two Indians amongst the eight players to qualify for the main draw in the MCC-SR Subramainiam Memorial ITF Mens Futures Tennis Championship being played at the TNTA courts at MRC Stadium, Egmore.

There were two other long and closely fought matches played. In one, Austin Karosi of USA  edged out Kumal Anand 1-6, 7-6 (1), 6-4 in three sets. Karosi won the first set but a mid-match slump saw Karosi losing the second set and being down 1-4 in the third set. He then fought back to win five games in a row to win 6-4 in the third set.
