Tarun Geared Up for Formula Four Championship

CHENNAI: He impressed in a British Formula Renault car last year and is ready to go even faster! Tarun Reddy is set to return to the British racing scene after securing a drive in the 2015 MSA Formula Four season.

The 17-year-old told TNIE that he will likely drive for RR Racing in the newly constituted series that will see thirty races in ten rounds held across England and Scotland. The MSA Formula Four season will begin on April 5 and will serve as a support event to the British Touring Car Championship. Tarun will get to race at some of the most prestigious race tracks across Britain including Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

“I think it’s a big step forward after my first year of single-seater racing. I’ve not had the opportunity to test the car yet and won’t have it until the first weekend of the race due to my exams. But I’m confident ahead of the season. The aim is to get used to the car as fast as possible and be fighting for the championship,” said Tarun, who will be seen racing in Chennai over the weekend at the MRF National Racing Championships. The Chennai lad had earlier become the youngest to ever win a race at the series.

Tarun was not eligible for points after the first three rounds in Formula Renault last year as his decision to do a full season of the National Racing Championships meant that he had to race with an Indian license. But that is a scenario he is keen to avoid this time around. ”I will do the full season this time and will be looking to earn points right until the last race. I’m confident that I can challenge for the championship this year,” he concluded.
