Rugby Men's Team Reaches Semifinal

CHENNAI:  India’s men’s team won all  four matches of the day at the 10-nation international rugby 7’s tournament, a pre-qualifier for the Rio Olympics. In the fourth round, India defeated Uzbekistan 12-5 to reach the semifinals.

India’s women beat Iran 5-0, but they need to beat South Korea to seal the semifinal berth.

MOP Vaishnav Victorious

MOP Vaishnav college defeated BS Abdur Rahman University 29-27, 29-11 and qualified for the league stage in ball badminton in JETS 2015.

Basketball Tourney

Jeppiaar Institute of Technology’s basketball club will organise the fifth all-India invitation basketball tournament for Jeppiaar Trophy from March 9 to 14 in the college campus.

The six-day tournament will be held on a league-cum-knockout basis. Elite teams from  across the country will vie for AP Paulraj Trophy for men and Marcella Rolling Trophy for women.

Meanwhile, Asian Games sailing bronze medallists Varsha Gautham and Aishwarya Neduchezhiyan were felicitated with a cash award of `50000 each by N Marie Wilson, director of the college.
