India Names Team for World Wushu Championship

The Wushu Association of Indian (WAI) decided to send 14 players, accompanied by three coaches.

NEW DELHI: The Wushu Association of Indian (WAI) on Monday decided to send 14 players, accompanied by three coaches, two managers, and a physiotherapist and technical official each, to participate in the 13th World Championship in Jakarta from November 11 to 18.

More than 900 Wushu athletes from 73 countries will participate in this championship.

Arjuna awardee and Asian Games bronze medallist Y. Sanathoi Devi, World Championships silver medallist Pooja Kadian and bronze medallist Rajni Deori will lead the Indian team with young hopes including L. Budha Chandra Singh.

The Indian team will depart here on November 10.

Coaches: Md. Islamuddin, Rajvir Singh, Sachidananda

Manager: Suhel Ahmed, Neeli Mohal Mutya Rao

Physiotherapist: Gourav Mehra
