CHENNAI: It was only a matter of time before that question arrived and Roberto Carlos let out a chuckle when it finally did.
As a long-serving member of Real Madrid, the Brazilian has won many an El Clasico for the Galacticos, but even he could not hide his disgust at his former team’s performance on Saturday. “Did they even play?” he queried jockingly.
“Even I’ve had a game like this at Santiago Bernabeu where we failed to even see the ball,” he said. “Just because Barcelona have beaten Real does not mean they are the best team in world. But they have great players like Suarez, Messi and Neymar.”
Carlos was also all praise for his compatriot Neymar. “He has been one of the most exciting players in recent days. Messi will always be number one, and (Cristiano) Ronaldo likewise, but if you ask which player has been the most exciting in recent months, it has to be Neymar. He has been simply spectacular and I admire him – even though he plays for Barcelona!”
