MALAPPURAM:Two-time champions Sree Kerala Varma College (Thrissur) fired an early warning to fellow competitors with a 9-2 demolition of St Xavier’s College (Thumba) in the TNIE GOAL All-Kerala inter-collegiate football tournament here on Monday.
Also registering an impressive start to their campaign were SN College (Kannur) — winners of the 2014 edition — who beat Vyasa College (Wadakkanchery) 2-0.
At the Malappuram District Sports Council Stadium, both winners kept their shape throughout to run out comfortable winners, SKVC even more so. TNIE GOAL champions in 2012 and 2013, SKVC ran circles around their opponents, as Shabin KR struck the first hat-trick of the event.
The third match of the second day saw Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha rout Zamorin’s Guruvayoorappan College, Kozhikode 4-0.
