We will be a different side: Srikkanth

March 30: Former Indian captain and mentor of Sunrisers Hyderabad K Srikkanth is gung ho about the prospects of the Kumar Sangakkara led side. He believes that his side has the ability and depth in its line-up to match the very best in the business.

Having taken part in the last auction for the Hyderabad side, Srikkanth believes that his team has covered all the areas and will be a different ‘Hyderabad’ side in this edition from the previous season. No wonder, the Hyderabad side is being tipped billed as a ‘dark horse’ of the tournament and many believe that if the side gains the momentum at the right time and capitalises on it has in it to have a crack at the title.

“I am very happy with the squad. We have a terrific line up with the likes of Sanga, Duminy and Dhawan, plus all-rounders White and Sammy also who lend depth and variety. So I am sure our side will do well and if we begin well, I see no reason why we should not make it to the semis and then take it from there,’’ said a confident Srikkanth in his inimitable style.

“Lets also not forget we have a good crop bowlers like Steyn, Ishant and quality spinners in Amit Mishra and Nathan McCullum. So ours is an all-round side and I am sure they will do well,’’ added Srikkanth. The Hyderabad side is owed by the high profile Sun TV group who are always keen to be the best. So is there any pressure or specific targets to deliver.

“Not at all. We are under no pressure. There is no interference and we have been given the freedom to go about the job in a professional manner,’’ explained Srikkanth.

“Dhawan is a very good player , but it is bad luck that he is out of the first new matches,” he added.
