Storm Around, Srini Camp Unfazed

CHENNAI: The pressure might be growing outside, but N Srinivasan’s camp is unfazed. Like he has been doing in the past year and a half, the BCCI’s president in exile is ready to hold his ground and present his side of the story and come clear. It is learnt that he held long discussions with his legal team on Saturday, after getting the report and will present his angle before the Supreme Court in four days. His camp believes he can emerge unscathed. “Everybody is acting as though it was learnt only on Friday that his name was mentioned in the report. But in fact his name had come out when Mudgal Committee had filed their first report itself. So it is not a new development,” a close aide of Srinivasan told TNIE. With many board members not in favour of the AGM being postponed, Srinivasan might be pushed to a corner. But his camp believes there is no necessity for the elections to happen immediately. “We sought the Supreme Court for permission to postpone the AGM and they agreed. If they thought he has done a crime, they could have said ‘no’ straightaway. They did not even raise any objection” the source said.
