CHENNAI:An all-round show by Haniel Steve Delwyn (3/22, 29 no) helped Don Bosco MHSS ease past Santhome HSS by seven wickets and clinch the title in the LVB U-14 cricket tournament final phase on Thursday.

Results: Final: Santhome HSS 98/7 in 20 ovs (Abdul Jaleel 50 n.o, Vimal Kumar 25; Haniel Steve Delwyn 3/22) lost to Don Bosco MHSS 99/3 in 16.5 ovs (SR Athish 55 n.o, Haniel 29 n.o; Charan Chunduru 2/20). MOM: Haniel (Don Bosco MHSS). Awards: Best batsman: Vimal Kumar (Santhome HSS). Best bowler: Karan Sampat (Don Bosco MHSS). Player of the Series: SR Athish (Don Bosco MHSS).

Mohan shines
S Mohan Prasath’s 5 for 66 enabled Coimbatore District CA to beat Dindigul District CA by 214 runs in the semifinals of the TNCA inter-districts Under-19 tournament.
Brief scores: Semifinals: Coimbatore 367 & 81/9 in 40 ovs bt Dindigul 154 & 180 in 34.3 ovs (M Dhanabal 69, S Mohan Prasath 5/66).

Vijay bags crown
Vijay Adhithya Muthu, with 8 points, was crowned the Under-8 boys champion at the second Chennai-level chess tournament held at Meenakshi College of Engineering, West KK Nagar. 438 players from Chennai, including 102 FIDE-rated players participated in the tournament. International Master Manuel Aaron distributed the prizes.
