CHENNAI: S Shrikrishna won his fifth state billiards title on Friday, beating Prem Prakash 5-1 in the senior men’s final of the Indian Oil-Tamil Nadu state-ranking men’s billiards and snooker championship. Shrikrishna was the defending champion, while Prakash has 26 state titles to his name. Results (final): S Shrikrishna bt Prem Prakash 150 (150)-3, 150-103, 101-150, 151-86, 150 (120)-8, 151-88. Final standings: 1. S Shrikrishna (MYL), 2. Prem Prakash (SVS), 3. Vijay Nichani (Coim), 4. G Prabhu (MGC).

Karthik shines

S Karthik’s 69 helped Fine Star CA beat Sundar CC by 113 runs in a first division match of the TNCA- Thiruvallur DCA league championship. Brief scores: I Division: Fine Star CA 200 in 43.3 ovs (S Karthik 69, P Shijit Chandran 40; P Sudhanthiraraj 4/34) bt Sundar CC 87 in 30.5 ovs (R Jesuraj 3/35). Bharani wins silver

G Bharani Pandian, a 12th standard student of Velammal (Mogappair), won silver in the 93kg event of the second Tamil Nadu inter-school powerlifting championship. The event was held at ABS Vidya Mandir School (Thiruvallur), and was organised by the Thiruvallur District Powerlifting Association.

New sponsor for Chennayin Nippon Paint will now be the associate sponsor of Chennaiyin FC in the fourth edition of ISL. Their logo has been embossed on the right sleeve of the team’s jersey. Chennaiyin’s first match, against FC Goa, will be held on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
