With several fringe elements threatening to agitate against the Indian Premier League match in Chennai on April 10 over the Cauvery issue, security arrangement has been beefed up to prevent any untoward incident at the game venue.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk.

According to the police, more than 2,000 police personnel would be deployed in Chepauk and, as a precautionary measure, several items and practices inside the stadium have been banned.

Here is a complete list of the banned items and practices,

Banned items:

  • Edibles

  • Banners and flags

  • Bags and briefcases

  • Mobile phones, laptops, and computers

  • Cameras

  • Binoculars

  • Remote-control devices (including car keys)

  • Musical instruments

  • Inflammable materials

  • Thermos flasks, water jugs and bottles

  • Cigarettes and beedis

  • Matches and lighters

  • Glasses

  • Knives

  • Any gadget with a dry-cell battery or a button-cell battery

Banned practices:

  • Depositing/hand over belongings (like mobile phones and cameras) with any security guard or police

  • Wearing black clothing

  • Throwing any object inside the stadium

  • Setting waste paper etc. on fire

  • Indulging in any foul, abusive or unruly behaviour

  • Speaking in any foul, abusive or unruly language

  • Making Racial comments
