CHENNAI: R Venkatakrishnan won the Pushpavalli Srinivasan–Tiruvallur district open rapid chess tournament conducted at the Britannia High School on Sunday.

The U-12 and U-14 rapid selection chess events were also held simultaneously.

The top two from open, U-14 and U-12 sections will represent Tiruvallur district in the upcoming Tamil Nadu open rapid chess championships that will be held at various centres in the state.


Final Standings: Open rapid: 1. R Venkatakrishnan (6), 2. Kokul Raj (5), 3. Shyam Kumar (5). U-14: Boys: 1. P Yutesh (5), 2. Saahil Ahmed, A Satheeswaran (4); Girls: 1. N Shrishruthika (5), 2. R Kapila (4), 3. R Kaviya (4). U-12: Boys: 1. RS Lalith (6), 2. Aashish Niranjan (5.5), 3. B Sanjeev (5); Girls: 1. M Rithika (5), 2. M Swati (4.5), 3. R Lakshanaa (4.5).
