HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao today ruled out the possibility of his party entering into an alliance with the ruling Congress party in view of the fast-changing political developments in the state.
Addressing reporters after a party executive committee meeting here today, Rao said that the ongoing developments were an internal matter of the Congress and the TRS was in no way concerned with it.
“The TRS is completely focused on achieving statehood to Telangana which is its sole agenda. The possible alliance between the Congress and the Praja Rajyam is also of no concern to us. We are being dragged into the issue unnecessarily as a few newspapers have been spreading stories that the TRS is planning to support the Congress without caring to check with our party leaders,” he said.
He was confident that there would be no midterm polls but said at the same time that the TRS, being an active political party, was closely observing the developments.
Asked about the chief minister setting a target of 41 MPs from the State for the Congress at the 2014 general election, he said that Kiran Kumar Reddy had made the statement without an idea on the future. “It is the Congress high command, not the chief minister, which will take the final call on Telangana.”
