Three cops hurt as SLR goes off

GUNTUR: Three Anti-Naxal Squad (ANS) cops received minor injuries when a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) accidentally went off while it was being cleaned at the Guntur Urban Police Office on Friday.

GUNTUR: Three Anti-Naxal Squad (ANS) cops received minor injuries when a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) accidentally went off while it was being cleaned at the Guntur Urban Police Office on Friday.

The SLR went off while ANS constable K Sambasiva Rao was cleaning it in the barrack and the bullet hit a stone. The splinters of the stone hit Rao.

Constables V Balu Naik and C Ravi Kumar who were also present in the barrack at that time, also suffered injuries in the incident, said Urban SP K Ravi Krishna. The injured constables were shifted to Government General Hospital. The condition of the injured is normal, said GGH superintendent Dr Challa Mohan Rao.
