MEDARAM (WARANGAL): It is festival time here with the tribal Goddesses Samakka and Saralamma arriving at the Gaddelu and lakhs of devotees celebrating the event with fervour. It is a sea of humanity within a 10km radius from the main platform as devotees thronged the jatra site chanting the valour of Sammakka and Saralamma. The number of devotees is increasing with every passing hour and it is estimated that 80 lakh devotees have come to the forest range so far to worship Sammakka and Saralamma. The jatra will be held till February 11. Prominent among the VIPs who attended the jatra, include chief secretary Pankaj Dwivedi, minister Basawaraju Saraiah, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao, Mahbubabad MP S Balram Naik and Mulugu MLA Sitakka.

In the heavy rush, many people lost their way. There are constant announcements in the mike about the people who lost their way.

Women and child welfare department and police were trying to trace the missing persons and hand them over to their relatives.
