HYDERABAD: Taking strong objection to the state government appointing a House Committee to probe land allotments, YSR Congress party honorary president and MLA YS Vijayamma said the time frame should be from 1994 to 2012 and the terms of reference should be made clear.
She urged Assembly speaker N Manohar to extend the House Committee purview to inquire all land allotments including Ameerpet land when K Rosaiah was the chief minister.
She suspected the intentions of the state government which were aimed at tarnishing the image of YSR, his family members and supporters. Vijayamma dashed a letter to the assembly speaker on Saturday asking him to make clear the terms of reference to inquire all land allotments including those in the TDP regime.
''We demand that the subcommittee probe land allotments from 1995 till date to show transparency, or else it will be clear that the government is on a witch hunt targeting YSR family and associates," the letter said.
In a fourpage letter, the YSR Congress party leader said former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy government had made several land allotments to private organisations keeping in mind about the overall development of the state. This was not questioned by any constitutional organisations like CAG or the Lokayukta, she said and added the ministers in the present cabinet, who were also there in the YSR cabinet, should also be held responsible for earlier land allotments.
