VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Integrated Irrigation Development Committee general secretary Kolli Nageswara Rao has demanded  that the state government resume the Polavaram project works immediately.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he also said the state government should strive to get national project status for Polavaram. Rao, who is also the honorary advisor to the committee on Polavaram project, urged the government  to invite fresh tenders for the project and finalise the tenders in a transparent manner.

The high power committee on Polavaram project tenders recommended to the state government to cancel the tender awarded to SEW Patel-AMR joint venture.

Rao advised the government to construct the project to a height of 150 feet. He felt that rehabilitation of the project oustees would not be a big problem.
